Copywriter
Beyond Type 1 is seeking an experienced freelance Copywriter and Researcher with a strong foundation in traditional and short-form advertising to join our fully remote, mission-driven team. This role demands someone adept at translating complex health information into engaging, accessible copy for diverse audiences impacted by diabetes. In addition to writing expertise, this role requires a deep understanding of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes communities and an ability to stay informed on emerging developments in diabetes care, science, technology and awareness of practical, emotional, and social aspects of day-to-day life with diabetes. The ideal candidate will have their finger on the pulse of evolving conversation within the community to ensure we are providing accurate and timely information in an authentic and imaginative way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Craft clear, impactful short-form copy for various channels, including social media, email, website content, and advertising campaigns, with a focus on clarity and engagement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create messaging that aligns with Beyond Type 1’s mission and resonates with our community.
- Translate medical and technical information about both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes into accessible, audience-friendly language without sacrificing accuracy or nuance.
- Maintain a consistent voice and tone across all copy, embodying a relatable, humorous, compassionate, and empowering approach.
- Stay informed on diabetes research, treatments, and health trends to produce relevant, timely, and accurate content.
- Stay attuned to conversations and trends within the diabetes community (Type 1 and Type 2) to understand the unique needs, challenges, and concerns of our audience.
- Edit and proofread copy to ensure grammatical accuracy, clarity, and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- 20 hours per week
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in short-form and advertising copywriting, ideally within health, wellness, or nonprofit sectors.
- Deep knowledge of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, with an ability to convey nuanced information to a broad audience.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research and stay informed on developments in healthcare, particularly diabetes care, science, and technology.
- A strong portfolio showcasing versatility in tone, clarity in messaging, and an ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Exceptional written communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in content management systems and familiarity with SEO best practices.
- Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a remote, fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- $30-$40 per hour, DOE and location
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with content strategy development and implementation.
- Familiarity with digital analytics tools to assess content performance.
- Background in healthcare communications or patient education materials.
- Prior involvement in diabetes-related communities, initiatives, or organizations.
