Fuel Our Mission. Drive Impact.

At Beyond Type 1, we’re on a mission to improve the lives of people impacted by diabetes.

The Social Impact Manager, Community Education & Content, is an essential member of the Beyond Type 1 team, ensuring that diabetes education and content for both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes meet the learning needs of our community and are rooted in science. The Manager will review the learning needs of target audiences to develop educational content that achieves superior social impact and health equity outcomes. This role drives impactful community education by partnering with other organizations, tailoring resources, and coordinating education events (in-person and virtual), while serving as a champion for the Type 2 community.

What You’ll Do

🩺 Clinical Expertise & T2D Advocacy

  • Stay up to date on the latest research, science, and best practices in diabetes care and education, with a specific focus on the evolving T2D therapeutic landscape (GLP-1s, SGLT2s, and CGM adoption).
  • Using the scientific review process, ensure content created by other department team members and/or marketing is scientifically accurate and uses non-stigmatizing language.
  • Consult with subject matter experts through the Science Advisory Council as needed.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on the psychosocial challenges unique to the Type 2 community, including provider bias and health disparities.

💻 Content Creation & Marketing Collaboration

  • Translate complex medical and scientific information into accessible, actionable resources tailored to diverse audiences, with a particular focus on underserved populations.
  • Partner closely with Marketing and Social Media teams to develop high-impact digital content and health awareness campaigns that are both scientifically sound and community-resonant.
  • Create content designed to support community members in making informed decisions, ensuring T2D resources are purpose-built rather than derivatives of T1D materials.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to create innovative, on-brand resources that align with the organization’s mission.

💡 Community Education & Health Equity

  • Lead community education initiatives, such as community forums and virtual educational opportunities, ensuring alignment with program goals.
  • Develop and distribute culturally relevant materials to support community understanding of diabetes prevention, management, and advocacy.
  • Identify opportunities to innovate within community programming, driving the development of cutting-edge resources that elevate the impact of Social Impact initiatives.
  • Ensure a "person-first" approach in all education, prioritizing health equity and addressing Social Determinants of Health (SDOH).

📈 Reporting, Accountability & General Support

  • Prepare regular reports on health content initiatives, including metrics on reach, engagement, and educational outcomes.
  • Ensure that content deliverables align with funding partner expectations, organizational goals, and key timelines.
  • Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned to advance the overall BT1 mission, inclusive of T1D-specific content and deliverables.
  • Document processes, decisions, and outcomes to foster transparency and knowledge sharing.

You’ll Be a Great Fit If You...

  • Years of Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in health education, community health, or social impact.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field required; Master’s degree (MPH, MS in Health Education, etc.) preferred.
  • Clinical Expertise: Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) required. Advanced knowledge of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
  • T2D Expertise: Deep understanding of T2D-specific barriers, including stigma, access to technology, and therapeutic management.
  • Cross-Functional & Campaign Expertise: * Demonstrated success collaborating with marketing teams and social media creators to drive health awareness. Ability to balance clinical rigor with the creative needs of digital-first campaigns.
  • Health Equity & Communication: * Proven track record of developing culturally resonant content for diverse audiences. Mastery of "person-first," non-stigmatizing language.
  • Mission Versatility: Ability to pivot between T1D and T2D projects, supporting the broader Beyond Type 1 mission as needed.
  • Digital Fluency: Experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS), project management tools (Asana, etc.), and formal review processes.
