Organization Overview

Beyond Type 1 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to changing what it means to live with diabetes. We aim to improve the lives of those with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes by providing platforms, programs, resources, and grants. Founded in 2015 by Nick Jonas and Juliet de Baubigny, we focus on education, advocacy, and finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes. Through our work, we unite the global diabetes community and offer solutions that improve lives today.

 

About the Role

The VP of Engagement will lead fundraising and partnership efforts to support our mission of helping people impacted by diabetes. This role will oversee revenue-generating initiatives, manage donor and corporate relationships, and collaborate with leadership to implement strategic fundraising plans. We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven professional who thrives in donor cultivation, corporate partnerships, and nonprofit revenue development.
 

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000/ year

Reports To: The President
 

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Donor Relations

  • Develop and execute strategies to expand major gifts ($10,000+), corporate partnerships, and annual giving campaigns.
  • Develop and Manage a portfolio of high-value donors and prospects, ensuring purposeful engagement and stewardship.
  • Lead all aspects of the donor cultivation cycle, from prospecting to solicitation and stewardship.
  • Support leadership, including the President, CEO and Board, in engaging donors and securing transformational gifts.
  • Oversee community giving programs and ensure alignment with overall development goals.
  • Create individualized cultivation touchpoints for key supporters, including handwritten notes, custom updates, and impact reports.
  • Organize small donor gatherings (virtual or in-person) and special experiences to deepen donor engagement.
 

Events & Campaigns

  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, including honoree selection, donor engagement, and sponsorship outreach.
  • Partner with marketing and communications teams to develop compelling donor materials and campaigns.
  • Lead and develop giving campaigns across various touch points in the year
  • Utilize donor research tools to identify new funding prospects and assess donor capacity.
     

Strategy

  • Provide strategic oversight for development initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Analyze donor data to inform cultivation strategies, track progress, and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Maintain accurate donor records in Salesforce (or other CRM tools), ensuring data integrity and historical tracking.
 

Corporate & Strategic Partnerships

  • Identify potential sponsorships and cause marketing partnerships.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to maximize mission-aligned corporate engagement.
  • Build relationships with key industry leaders and organizations to expand funding opportunities.
     

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in fundraising, major gifts, or corporate partnerships.
  • Proven track record of closing six- and seven-figure gifts and building long-term donor relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, donor engagement strategies, and nonprofit best practices.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with executives, donors, and stakeholders.
  • Experience managing fundraising events and donor recognition programs.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; CFRE certification or master’s degree a plus.
